A contemporary newspaper commented on a similar HAC firing exercise: ’The officers of the corps were much gratified with the efficiency of the men, and it is gratifying to know they are so well qualified for duty, as it is not known how soon their services may be again required, to do duty in London, as they were when the Guards were sent to the Continent at the period of the battle of Waterloo.’
