107 (Ulster) Independent Infantry Brigade (TA) was formed in 1947 as an all arms brigade of the Territorial army based in Ulster. Its infantry battalions were drawn from the three regular infantry regiments of Northern Ireland. - The Brigade traced its origins to the 107th Brigade of the First World War which was the senior brigade of the famous 36th Ulster Division which was formed in September 1914 as part of the New Armies raised by Lord Kitchener. The Division consisted of the old Ulster Volunteer Force, which had originally been raised to resist the imposition of Home Rule. 107 (U) Brigade was disbanded in 1967 but reformed again until finally disbanded in 2006, following the drawdown of Operation Banner.
