A Silver Figure of a Second World War Commando

The design for this figure is taken from the central figure of the joint War Memorial to the Commandos, Submarine Service, Airborne Services and S.A.S. in Westminster Abbey by Gilbert Ledward (1880-1960) who was the sculptor responsible for the Foot Guards' war memorial opposite Horse Guards Parade, London. The special forces memorial in the Abbey was and unveiled by Winston Churchill on 21 May 1948.
