Henry Charles FitzRoy Somerset, 8th Duke of Beaufort, K.G., P.C., (1824 –1899)

Formerly an officer in the 1st Life Guards, and 7th Hussars, and an aide-de-camp to the Duke of Wellington and Lord Hardinge, the 8th Duke of Beaufort was appointed Lieutenant-Colonel Commandant of the Royal Gloucestershire Yeomanry (Royal Gloucestershire Hussars) in 1854, and became Honorary Colonel of the regiment in 1874.
