A flying legend in the RAF. He lost both his legs in a pre war flying accident but fought to return to operational duties at the outbreak of the war. He commanded 242 Squadron, and shot down 22 enemy aircraft before being shot down himself in 1941. He spent the rest of the war as a prisoner of war in the infamous Colditz Castle.
