1871 Pattern Trooper's helmet, the white metal skull applied with Queen VR cypher in brass surmounted by Queen Victoria crown of the same, the whole complete with white metal chin scales and white over red horse hair plume.
The regiment was raised in July 1794 and renewed for service 1803.It disbanded in 1828 but the Radbourne Troop continued to serve without pay. In 1830 this troop was augmented and placed on pay. It provided the 8th Company, 4th Battalion Imperial Yeomanry for active service in South Africa during the Boer War 1899-1902. It subsequently saw service in Gallipoli and Macedonia during the 1914-18 War.
