Robert Garrard, (1793-1881), was the driving force behind the celebrated partnership of R. & S. Garrard (later Garrard of Regent street) which from 1843 held Queen Victoria’s and succeeding monarchs’ appointments of The Crown Jewellers
Lieutenant Colonel John Henry Bagot Lane, (1829-1886), of King’s Bromley, Staffordshire, was the son of John Newton Lane and his wife, the Hon. Agnes Bagot, daughter of Sir William Bagot, 2 nd Baron Bagot of Bagot’s Bromley. He was commissioned Ensign in Coldstream Guards in January 1855 and sailed for the Crimea where he saw active service from 2 May 1855 in the siege and capture of Sebastopol. He was promoted Lieutenant & Captain in his regiment on 26 October 1858.
